Our fear, outrage, polarization, self-loathing, hatred, consumerism, and disconnection from the people in front of us, is bought and paid for. (Case in point, none of the creators of our social media platforms let their kids have social media…)

In a social climate that capitalizes on our dysregulation, we can be inclined to rip the gloves off and fight, or to escape up-and-out from the intensity.

But if we wage war or disengage with what’s happening in the world, who loses?

Our children.

On this week’s podcast, I am overjoyed to bring you a warm cup of grounded wisdom, poured through this conversation with Sebene Selassie – a 30+ year student of Buddhist teachings and a meditation teacher.

Our conversation stretches from the importance of land acknowledgment, to cultivating self-love, to musings on social media…

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Thoughts on the relationship between intimacy with death and belonging with life.
  • Blocking, deleting, unfriending, fighting? Musing on boundaries and connecting across differences.
  • The power and importance of relationship, and the role social media plays (or doesn’t) in that.
  • Meditation as a pathway to being more in our bodies and with each other.
  • Sebene’s insights about the distinction between aiming to achieve states of consciousness, vs. aiming to be more here and more human
  • How we can open to holding a stand for justice alongside compassion.
